SchoolSoup and FastWeb have many scholarships listed by prospective majors and interests. Another website to check out is FloridaNext.


The Johnson Scholarship Foundation is offering scholarship aid to 2 different groups of seniors:

1. the children of UPS employees or retirees who live in Florida...deadline April 15, 2010

2. students with disabilities who will attend one of the 11 state universities in Florida...deadline May 15, 2010

These applications are available to download at www.jsf.bz.


If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free... no tuition and no student loans!

To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $60,000 a year, visit Harvard's financial aid website or call the school's financial aid office at (617) 495-1581.


Putnam County School Food Service is offering a $250 scholarship to senior students in our area. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 or above. Deadline to apply is March 26, 2010. Applications are available in guidance.


Any Seniors who have a history of active membership in a church and in the community are invited to complete the St. Monica's Catholic Church "Jubilee" Scholarship application, available in the guidance office. The value of the award is $1000 and the deadline is April 1, 2010.


Florida Credit Union out of Gainesville is offering the Servin/Ellis Scholarship to seniors who are members of this Credit Union or their parent/guardian is a member. Several scholarships will be awarded. Applicatons are available in guidance. Deadline is April 30th.


Any current seniors who reside in Putnam Hall may pick up an application for the UPGRADE U Scholarship sponsored by the Williams family of Putnam Hall. See Ms. McCormick for details. 2 $1000 scholarships may be awarded.


The Florida A&M Spring Preview will be held in Tallahassee on Saturday March 27, 2010 from 8:30-1:30. Prospective students can meet faculty, students, alumni and administrators and learn more about FAMU's academic programs and student organizations. Some scholarships will be awarded. Farm Credit of North Florida 4 scholarships to high school seniors. The senior must express a desire to get a degree in agriculture or agribusiness. Awards are $1000 each. Applications are available in guidance. Deadline is April 15, 2010.


Rotary Scholarship - 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT or 950 SAT. 2 or 3 scholarships will be awarded to IHS seniors.


Palatka Art League--must enroll in a Visual Arts and/or Graphic Design Program at SJRCC/Florida School of the Arts.Must complete the application and present at least 12 works in the chosen field. Deadline is June 30, 2010. Approximately $1000.


Pilot Club of Palatka-3.0 GPA and plan to attend SJRCC or St. Leo College and study brain-related disorders, incliding majoring in Special Education. Deadline is April 10, 2020. The award is $1000.


SJRCC Academic Scholarship - 3.2 unweighted GPA and 23 ACT or 1050 SAT. Deadline is April 29, 2010. Award is for 30 credit hours at in-state tuition and may be renewed for a second year.


SJRCC African American Leadership Scholarship - 2.5 GPA, one letter of recommendation, and FAFSA, if requested. Deadline is April 29, 2010. Award is for 30 credit hours of in-state tuition and may be renewed for a second year.


SJRCC Hispanic Leadership Scholarship - 2.5 GPA, one letter of recommendation, and FAFSA, if requested. Award is for 30 credit hours of in-state tuition and may be renewed for a second year.


Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is offering a scholarship to seniors with a 2.5 or higher GPA. Deadline is April 15, 2010. Applications are available in guidance.


The Interlachen Lions Club is offering a $750 scholarship to seniors. The student must attend St. Johns River CC. Deadline is March 31, 2015 and applications are available in guidance.


Juniors who are serious about a NROTC scholarship (for any college or university with a NROTC program) may begin applying March 15, 2010. The early review board meets in August, but students may apply through December 18, 2010. Details are available in guidance.


The Alpha Delta Kappa Educators' Sorority sent a scholarship application. The deadline is April 9, 2010 and the award is $750 to be used at the college of choice.Students must have at least a 3.0. See Ms. Hoyt in guidance for details.


Students in grade 12 whose homes are served by Clay Electric may apply for a $1000 scholarship. The applications are in guidance and the ABSOLUTE deadline is April 1, 2010.

The American Legion Auxilary is offering a scholarship. Applications are available in guidance deadline is March 18th.

The Women's Educational, Social,Civic, and Arts Club will award three $500.00 scholarships

Critera is as follows

1. Finanical need

2. Plans to attend college in the year the scholarship is awarded

3. Completes an application for the scholarship

4. Has a minimum gpa of 3.0

5. Mails the following items to the scholarship chairperson by the deadline

a. completed application

b. an unopened transcript

c. two letters of recommendation, one from an Advisor\Counselor, and one from a faculty member

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE..........APRIL 19, 2010


Seniors who intend to pursue an AS degree or Vocational Certificate at SJRCC or an AA leading to a degree in Education may apply for the Career Pathways scholarship. Students must have a 2.8 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in the Career Pathways program of study. The details and application are available online at http://www.sjrcc.edu/workforce/workforceservices.html. The absolute deadline is May 1, 2010...no exceptions. The award is equal to 30 hours tuition and may be renewed.


ONKYO BRAILLE ESSAY CONTEST

The Onkyo Braille essay contest is being administered by the National Federation of the Blind on behalf of the North America-Caribbean Region of the World Blind Union. Essays must be written by contest participants, in English or their native language, in Braille, and must be completely original in nature. Entries should be no fewer than 800 words and no more than 1,000 words in length. There will be two groups of competitors-one Junior group, aged 25 and under; and one Senior group, aged 26 and up, and prizes range from $500-$2,000.
